Russell 639550 Import Speed Bleeder

A 1993 Escort with 1.9L engine uses a bleeder with M8-1.0 threads. When you select a bleeder with those threads and use the "Make Sure It Fits" feature, it says that is the wrong size for the Escort. Autozone will also sell you the wrong size bleeder but the manufacturer of the speed bleeder lists the correct size. Whatever car you order a bleeder for, check several references to determine what size you need.I haven't actually used the bleeder yet but there are plenty of reviews on that. Note that the package includes 2 bleeders.

Actron CP7835 Vacuum Pump/Brake Bleed Kit

I used the Actron kit to replace the brake fluid in my jeep. I removed the Master Cylinder cover, then sucked the fluid out each wheel cylinder bleed valve individually (while topping off the reservoir with fresh fluid) until each cylinder ran clean. It was a one man operation with all the bubbles coming out the bleed screw (I put some grease on the bleed screw fittings so my tygon tubing made a good seal). I bought an extra length of tygon tubing at the hardware store so I could have extra room.

Mityvac MV8000 Automotive Tune Up and Brake Bleeding Kit

I purchased one of these units to help with brake fluid replacement on my '96 Nissan Pathfinder. I was expecting to be able to attach the unit to each brake fluid bleed valve in turn, pump up a vacuum, open the bleed valve and rapidly extract the old brake fluid.I found it to be close to useless for this purpose because the vacuum it creates is not particularly strong. The fittings supplied with the unit do not make an effective seal to the valve, so air leaks in. In addition the other various fittings do not fit together securely, and the pump kept popping off the tank.I resorted to having my 11-year-old daughter pump the brake pedal as needed. The pump was of some usefulness to help stop air from leaking back into the system, but it was far from the quick, easy one-man job I was hoping for.If you're looking to do this kind of job I would not recommend this item. There has to be a better way!

Mityvac 7300 PneumatiVac Air-Operated Fluid Evacuator

I used the Mityvac 7300 for the first time this past weekend. Overall, I am very satisfied. I ran the tube down the dip stick hole and evacuated all of the oil out of the oil pan. I know this because after I was done I removed the drain plug to see if any oil was left. Not a drop! Usually, oil continues to dribble out of the oil drain hole for quite a while on a standard oil change. This unit sucked the oil pan dry.Positives: It works as advertised. It draws the oil out and makes no mess. I have always changed my own oil. There used to always be some some clean up and an occasional splash zone. Not anymore. Removing the oil and handling the used oil is easy and makes no mess.Negatives: The tubes that are provided are to short. To use the unit out of the box I had to lay it on top of the engine on its side. My vehicle is a '02 Toyota Tacoma. It is nothing out of the ordinary. Standard engine and the dip stick hole is in the front of the engine compartment. I am going to buy a longer piece of tubing and then I will be very happy. There is no fitting provided for the air line either. A small item but I would have liked to have to not disassemble something else to get the air fitting. This product would have received a strong 5-stars if the dip stick tubing was longer. I expect to change my oil more frequently now because it is now quite a bit easier to do and using this unit makes no mess at all.

Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator Plus

This device is commonly used to change oil in Mercedes. It does not, however, work on all makes and models. I have a 2002 explorer that apparently has a screen prohibiting the evacuator from reaching the oil pan. It would be nice if the description would include a list of vehicles that the device would work on.

Motion Pro Hydraulic Brake Bleeder - --

I just did brake bleeding on my Honda van using Motion Pro Hydraulic Brake Bleeder.I followed the included instructions and bleeding was easy.I did this on the weekend.- 15 minutes to jack up the car, put the car on jack stands, and removed 4 tires to access the bleed screws.- 20 minutes (5 minutes per wheel) to pump pedal and refill reservoir.- 15 minutes to re-install the wheels and lower the car.- 15 minutes to clean up and put away the jacks, jack stands, used fluid, rags, etc.- 10 minutes to test drive the car.Total: 1 hour 15 minutes. On some autos, you don't have to remove the wheels b/c the bleed screws are accessible. That would save you quite a bit of time.A brake shop usually charges $40 to $50 to bleed 4 wheels, waiting time of at least 1.5 hours.I saved enough money with just 1 bleeding to offset the cost of this tool.
